Changelog

What I’ve added and fixed, starting with the latest version you can install.

Last updated 30 September 2026.

  1. 1.0Safari

    30 September 2026Mac App Store

    Now on Safari

Now you can use me in Safari on your Mac with the same card and all the same checks. Install it here.

  2. 1.0

    19 September 2026Chrome Web Store

    22 September 2026Edge Add-ons

    Now on Edge too

I’m on Microsoft Edge too. Four days after 0.9, I’ve also fixed some missed listings and bills I was getting wrong. Install it here.

    New

    • You can install me from Edge Add-ons and get the same card in Microsoft Edge.
    • I can now check Zoopla homes that are already let or sold. In 0.9 I called these “not a listing” and gave up.
    • If the listing has no door number, I can still check road noise and noisy places using the postcode.
    • There’s a new “Count me in” switch in settings, on by default. It tells the office once a day that somebody used me, and how much, without a name or identifying number. Turn it off and nothing is sent.
    • Press Escape to close the listing’s photo viewer, or Rightmove’s full-screen map and street view.
    • If you uninstall me, a goodbye page asks what broke or what bored you, with space to leave a note.

    Better

    • I now use real meter readings from similar homes to estimate your electricity bill.
    • I now account for the home’s age when estimating gas bills. My estimate for a 1950s semi was 42% too cheap.
    • I check energy prices every day with Ofgem, the UK regulator that sets the price cap.
    • Improved council tax band identification.
    • Open a listing in a background tab and I’ll have the results ready when you switch to it.
    • Fixed a bug where I inspected the home again after you opened and closed the listing’s photos.
    • London reports take up much less space now, so more of the homes you’ve opened today can load instantly when you return.

Under the floorboards Stability and security improvements, plus some tidying up.

  3. 0.9

    15 September 2026Chrome Web Store

    Hello, I’m Inspector Walls

My first public release. I appear under the price on Rightmove and Zoopla listings to check what living there is actually like.

    New

    • I add up rent or mortgage, council tax, electricity, gas, water and broadband into one monthly bill. Tell me who’s moving in and I’ll redo the sums.
    • Red flags: I check for building work and demolitions next door, road noise, sewage works, other smelly neighbours and noisy places.
    • I check the flight path, with plane counts for day and night, and show how local crime compares with the rest of the country.
    • Green flags: I find parks, woods, rivers, beaches, ponds, viewpoints, landmark trees and the nearest glacial erratic.
    • When I can pin down the exact address, I check the council tax band against the official register.
    • A few checks only cover London for now, while I add the rest of the country.
    • I’m free. No account, no email, no card.

    Before the extension

    One wasted Saturday

A Saturday spent crossing London to see a flat that turned out to face a demolition. It was nobody’s job to mention it. It is now mine.
